Dennis Tucker was appointed to the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission in February 2015. He is a lifelong Bermudian who has had a distinguished career within the hotel industry of the Island, as well as serving in important public and charitable roles.
& Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Hotel Pension Trust Fund. Prior to this he had a long and noteworthy career in the hotel industry on the Island. Mr. Tucker entered the hotel business in the early 1960s, learning the business from the ground up. He joined the Sonesta Beach Resort in 1976 as a Chief Accountant, and by the late 1980s had become the Resort’s Hotel Manager. In 1998 he was appointed as the Managing Director of the Resort, a position he held until 2003. During his tenure at the Sonesta he developed a wide-ranging set of skills including finance, marketing, labour relations, and general management. Others have often sought these skills out and Commissioner Tucker is often approached to sit on Boards for both private and public entities on the Island.
During his hotel career Commissioner Tucker also participated in industry-wide functions serving in multiple positions for the Bermuda Employers Council and the Bermuda Hotel Association. In government, he has distinguished himself serving on such bodies as the Premier’s Task Force on Employment, on committees for the Department of Tourism, advising the Ministry of Finance, and serving in the Bermuda Senate.
Dennis has also exhibited his philanthropic soul throughout his life in Bermuda. This includes an active participation in the Bank of Bermuda Foundation and as President of the Sandy’s Rotary Club. Commissioner Tucker lives in Southampton, Bermuda, with his wife of 47 years, JoAnne.
